Long before Bayswater Car Sales existed, the Crammond family was already in the business of cars.

The photographs alongside show A.R. Crammond & Son — Andrew’s grandfather’s shop, and the starting point of a family trade that has now carried through three generations.

Andrew Crammond founded Bayswater Car Sales in 1984, working alongside his father from a small yard on the corner of Canterbury Road and Dorset Road in Bayswater. As the business grew, it moved to larger premises at 383 Canterbury Road, where it became a familiar part of the local landscape for many years — the big yellow “Bayswater Car Sales” sign a well-known local landmark to generations of Bayswater residents.

Through all of it, the approach has stayed the same: know your cars, treat people honestly, and let the reputation take care of itself.

From the Yard to Online

These days, Andrew runs Bayswater Car Sales without a physical yard — trading online instead, but with exactly the same hands-on, personal approach that built the business in the first place.

It’s a simpler way of doing things, but the fundamentals haven’t changed: decades of knowledge, an eye for a good car, and a name that’s well known and well regarded throughout the local community.
